The Milwaukee Brewers managed to split their series on the West Coast, winning a series against the Padres but dropping one to the Dodgers. Should have been a winning trip but a split on the coast is a success.
The Brew Crew came home to host the Pirates. The Pirates have been abysmal at Miller Park. In fact, including this series, the Brewers are 46-7 when facing the Pirates at Miller Park. That record should be 47-6 but John "Homer Runs for Everyone!!!" Axford was once again, charitable with the long ball.
The St. Louis Cardinals come to town for an early season test. The Cards are the cream of the crop in the NL Central. A team that is professional from the bigs througout the minors. Hell, this is what every franchise should model themselves to be. They just find ways to win with who they have.
They have been a thorn in the Brewers side for years. Ever since the Brewers dropped the 1982 World Series (when Milwaukee was an American League team), the Cardinals have caused more heartache to fans than any other team. Beating the Cards means you have a good team and can be a contender for a pennant.
Plus, Cardinal fans are just too damn nice. Miller Park will be filled with people wearing red this weekend. Its just over a 6 hour trip from Missouri. Unlike Cubs fans, Cards fans are respectful. They aren't a bunch of assholes crowing about every win. I enjoy going to these games for that reason. You learn a bit from their perspective and win or lose, you have a good time.
